The Orrery of Thale
A stargazers' tower from before the Fall, half sunk in the tide off the eastern shoals. Its great brass orrery still turns when the sea moves through the lower floors. The Astronomer Thale built it to watch the sky, and it was from its telescope that the star was first seen, on the last night the tower stood dry.
The islanders call it unlucky and leave it alone. The Slackwater do not. At low tide the dais and the ramp are dry; at high tide only the dais is.
Some say Thale never left, and that her ghost still keeps her last observation. See the timeline for the night the star fell.
