Warlock — Core Class

The warlock did not inherit their magic, nor spend years studying for it. They bargained for it. Somewhere in their past is a pact — a deal struck with a being of immense and alien power, whether an archfey, a fiend, a celestial, or something from beyond the edge of the stars — and the eldritch gifts they wield are the terms of that agreement made manifest. Their power is real and formidable, but it is on loan, and the lender is never entirely out of the picture.

What sets the warlock apart is how they wield it. Where other casters have deep reserves, the warlock has a mere handful of potent, always-maxed spell slots that recharge on a short rest — so they blaze bright, run dry, and blaze bright again all day long. Around that core they layer Eldritch Invocations, a Pact Boon, and a signature blast of raw force, building a spellcaster as customizable as they are dangerous. They are proof that the shortest road to power is simply knowing who to ask.

Signature Feature · Level 1

Pact Magic

Your magic flows from your bargain. You cast through Pact Magic — a small number of spell slots that are always cast at your highest available level, and that you recharge on a Short Rest rather than a long one. Charisma is the key; the patron supplies the rest.

No other caster works this way. The warlock spends big, refills fast, and does it again — a rhythm of bright, repeated bursts that no wizard's careful reserves can match across a long day.

3rd	Otherworldly Patron, Pact Boon
11th	Mystic Arcanum
20th	Eldritch Master

2nd Level

Eldritch Invocations

Your pact grants you an ever-growing set of Eldritch Invocations — persistent magical talents you choose and can swap as you advance. Add your Charisma to your signature blast, see in magical darkness, read any language, speak to the dead: each Invocation is a fragment of borrowed power, and together they make no two warlocks alike.

3rd Level

Otherworldly Patron

You name the being you bargained with — a Patron that shapes your magic and grants features at 3rd, 6th, 10th, and 14th level, along with always-prepared patron spells. The four Patrons — the Archfey, the Celestial, the Fiend, and the Great Old One — are gathered below.

3rd Level

Pact Boon

Your patron seals the deal with a gift. Choose your Pact Boon: the Pact of the Blade (summon a bound weapon and fight with your magic), the Pact of the Chain (a uniquely capable familiar), or the Pact of the Tome (a Book of Shadows bristling with extra cantrips and rituals). It's the first real shape your bargain takes in the world.

11th Level

Mystic Arcanum

Your patron entrusts you with magic beyond your Pact slots. You gain a 6th-level spell that you can cast once per Long Rest without expending a slot — and higher tiers of Arcanum follow as you climb, one apiece at 7th, 8th, and 9th level. These are the secret, weighty workings the pact was really about.

20th Level

Eldritch Master

You have mastered the terms of your own bargain. Through a short ritual of entreaty to your patron, you can recover all your expended Pact Magic slots — once per Long Rest — refilling your whole reservoir on demand. At the height of your power, the well is yours to open whenever you kneel and ask.
