The Way of the Open Hand is the martial art at its most complete and undisguised — no elemental fire, no borrowed shadow, no divine mercy, only the body trained to the very edge of what a body can do. Its practitioners study the mechanics of a strike the way a scholar studies a text: where to push, when to sweep the legs, how to leave an opponent unable to answer. Every blow of a Flurry is a small, deliberate lesson in physics and vulnerability.

This is the oldest and purest of the traditions, and in some ways the most demanding. Without a gimmick to lean on, the open-hand monk must simply be better — tougher, faster, more precise — mending their own wounds with a breath and, at the summit of the art, learning to place a single touch so perfectly that its echo can stop a heart days later. Mastery here is nothing but mastery, and it is enough.

3rd Level

Open Hand Technique

Every strike of your Flurry can carry a lesson. Whenever you hit with one of the Unarmed Strikes from your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one effect: Addle (the target can't make Opportunity Attacks until its next turn), Push (a Strength save or be shoved up to 15 feet away), or Topple (a Dexterity save or fall Prone). The save DC is 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency Bonus.

6th Level

Wholeness of Body

You learn to knit your own wounds with a controlled breath. As a Bonus Action, you can roll your Martial Arts die and regain that many Hit Points plus your Wisdom modifier. You can do this a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier, regaining all uses on a Long Rest — a monk who is, quite literally, their own healer.

11th Level

Fleet Step

Motion flows into motion without a pause. When you take a Bonus Action other than Step of the Wind, you can immediately follow it with a use of Step of the Wind as well — layering a Flurry, a heal, or a technique with a burst of Disengaging movement, so you're always leaving the moment you finish.

17th Level

Quivering Palm

The legendary death-touch. When you hit with an Unarmed Strike, you can spend 4 Focus Points to set imperceptible vibrations in the target, lasting a number of days equal to your Monk level. On a later turn, you can end them with an action: the target makes a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency Bonus), dropping to 0 Hit Points on a failure or taking 10d12 Force damage on a success. Only one creature can carry the vibrations at a time — and you can always still them harmlessly.
