Eldritch Knight — Sagor från Valoris

The Eldritch Knight refuses to choose between the sword and the spell. These are warriors who took up a fragment of the wizard's art and welded it directly onto their martial training — not as a scholar's pursuit, but as one more weapon on the belt. A ward flickers up an instant before a blow lands; a bolt of frost buys the half-second the blade needs; an enemy's guard falters just as the knight steps in. Magic, here, is simply the fighter's answer to problems a weapon can't solve alone.

They are disciplined, self-reliant, and quietly formidable. An Eldritch Knight bonds so completely to their chosen weapon that it will come to their hand across a battlefield, and learns to strike in a way that leaves foes fatally exposed to the spell that follows. Neither pure mage nor pure soldier, they are something harder to plan against: a front-line warrior with an arcanist's bag of tricks.

3rd Level

Spellcasting

You learn a soldier's share of wizardry, drawing on Intelligence to cast from the Wizard spell list. You know two cantrips and prepare a small, growing list of spells — of which at least three must come from the Abjuration and Evocation schools, the wards and blasts a warrior needs most. It's a focused, third-caster's magic, and all the deadlier for its restraint.

3rd Level

War Bond

Through an hour's ritual, you forge a magical bond with a weapon. Once bonded, you can't be disarmed of it unless Incapacitated, and you can summon it to your hand as a Bonus Action from anywhere on the same plane. You can keep up to two weapons bonded at once — a blade that is never truly out of reach, and never truly someone else's.

7th Level

War Magic

You learn to slip a spell into the rhythm of your swordplay. When you take the Attack action, you can replace one of the attacks with a cantrip that has a casting time of an action — a blast of magic woven seamlessly between blade-strokes, costing you nothing but a single swing.

10th Level

Eldritch Strike

Your blade undercuts a foe's defenses against your magic. When you hit a creature with a weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next saving throw against a spell you cast before the end of your next turn — the strike softening it up for the spell that follows an instant later.

15th Level

Arcane Charge

Your burst of speed carries a step through space itself. When you use your Action Surge, you can teleport up to 30 feet to a space you can see — before or after the extra action — to close on a fleeing foe, escape a closing trap, or reposition for the perfect strike.

18th Level

Improved War Magic

Your blend of blade and spell reaches its height. When you take the Attack action, you can now replace two of the attacks with a level 1 or level 2 Wizard spell that has a casting time of an action — trading a pair of swings for a genuine spell, mid-melee, without missing a beat.
